What is Midgard Arena

Anime browser RPG in open alpha that mixes idle progression with turn-based battles: the player summons heroes (gacha), builds teams with class runes and advances through a 10-stage campaign on an island where dead heroes wait for Valhalla. Automatic hunting runs with the game open in the background, there is offline farming with a daily limit and a six-versus-six PvP arena.

• Seven classes — Novice, Swordsman, Mage, Archer, Thief, Acolyte and Merchant — with eight runes each (56 in total); each hero equips four.
• Heroes come from summons paid with Ember (earned by playing) or Chroma (premium currency); there is a starter box with three free heroes and a free hero every 24 hours through the daily contract.
• Duplicate copies of a hero awaken 'Memory Sparks'; at level V the hero reveals their true title, gains an exclusive skill and raises the level cap to 50.
• Campaign I has 10 stages, five seals (Oath Sigils) and the Valkyrie Sanctum, with grind zones between story battles.
• In the grind zones hunting can be manual or automatic; campaign, bosses and PvP are turn-based battles controlled by the player.
• The client lists offline farming of 4 hours a day, or 8 hours with VIP.
• Six-versus-six arena with live private rooms and an asynchronous defense team; ranked mode is announced as 'coming soon'.
• Since the June 22, 2026 update the ranking is weekly (resets on Mondays, 0:00 UTC) and the top 10 get Ember.
• Chroma is sold in packs from US$ 0.99 to US$ 99.99 (the first purchase of each pack is doubled) and the monthly Watcher's Blessing VIP costs US$ 9.99, paid via Stripe; VIP gives +20% XP, Ember and drop in PvE and, according to the terms, does not affect PvP power.
• Account with email and password or Google; minimum age of 13 (16 in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom).

Do you need to keep the tab open?

According to the Midgard Arena site, the account keeps progressing with the tab closed.

According to the home page, regular automatic hunting runs while the game stays open in the background; in addition, the client lists offline farming limited to 4 h a day (8 h with VIP). In the arena, the defense team fights while the player is offline. Farm offline de 8h por dia (em vez de 4h) (source)

So here, keeping the tab open is more about following the account, responding to events and noticing when something goes wrong than about keeping progress.

Rules: multiple accounts, automation and VPN

What the rules published by Midgard Arena said on Sep 22, 2026:

• Multiple accounts: the site doesn't say. The terms and privacy policy say nothing about multiple accounts.
• Automation (bots, macros, scripts): forbidden. The terms prohibit cheating, using bots or automating gameplay; automatic hunting is a feature of the game itself. Cheat, use bots, or automate gameplay. (source)
• VPN and proxy: the site doesn't say. The terms and privacy policy do not mention VPN or proxy.
• Selling items for real money (RMT): forbidden. The terms prohibit buying, selling or trading accounts outside the game and say Chroma, Ember, heroes, runes and VIP have no cash value and cannot be traded, sold or redeemed for money outside the game. How to leave Midgard Arena running in IdleDeck
